1999. For nearly 40 years, the St-Francis Convent has been closed under obscure circumstances. The quiet of the area is troubled when the customary grass-loving teenage crew B&E the sacred place and throw up a élittle xparty. Devilish nuns and ghouls were only waiting. Nuns, guns and gasoline on the menu. The main dish is the most far out and violent American horror movie since From Dusk Till Dawn. The plot may be fairly familiar but the way Mendez brings it to the screen, burlesque violence notwithstanding, is that of unsettling special effects and permanent massacre. With its pedal-to-the-medal overdose of fluorescent explosions, blearing technolpunk soundtruck, The Convent is bad taste no end but gratifies us with John Carpenter's diva, water-fog-bullet-proof-I'm back Adrienne Barbeau teaming up witha flurry of comedians from TV-high-lights such as Bluffy, MTV's Undressed, Saved by the Bell, Dawson Creek, Melrose, et al.
