In the year 2009, Japan is celebrating the 100th anniversary of South East Asia's unification, now under the yoke of a New Empire of the Rising Sun. In Korea, national identity has been so dramatically melt down the Korean people have all but forgotten their past, even their own language. Sakamoto is a brilliant rookie JBI agent, the Japanese Bureau of Investigation. Of Korean origin, he is nonetheless a model citizen of the new Empire. With his Nipponese friend Nakamura, he leads a relentless struggle against the "Hureisenjin", the Korean National Liberation Movement. Following a bloody attack by the "Hureisenjin" on an archeological artifacts exhibition, Sakamoto begins to question the official theory put forward by the brass. He sees no logic in the Korean terrorists' interest in a mysterious crescent-shaped artifact. That is when he discovers an ancient Korean legend that ascribes supernatural powers to the object. Almost completely ignored in Switzerland, Korean action movies are probably the most exciting (and excited!) of the moment. Worthy successor of Kang je-gyu, who directed the memorable "Shiri" (1989), Lee produces a frantic science fiction movie that makes "The Rock" look like intimist "cinéma d'auteur" and shows Korea still at odds with the murky past of its relationship with Japan.
