In an unknown town at an unspecified time, Doctor Faust, a specialist in terminal medicine, is about to participate in an international congress with other surgeons. A brilliant physician devoted to his patients, Dr Faust is nevertheless exhausted because of the routine and the toughness in his job; even his patients appear in better shape than he does. His assistant Julia is the only person he will cling to life for. As the congress opens, Faust meets, quite unexpectedly, with a former patient of his, a colorful character named Santos. Eight years before their meeting, Faust had diagnosed him with terminal cancer. When asked to give away the secret to his survival, Santos answers that he never gets too close to physicians. Faust is irritated at first by his arrogance, but soon gives him his complete confidence. He follows Santos into the dark world of night and gets a taste for life again. Santos then reveals his power to fulfill Faust's every wish. The last episode in the Faust trilogy by the Fura dels Baus, this movie is truly outstanding. Apart from its fascinating tragic dimension, Fausto 5.0 bears the hallmark of the genius of the Fura Company when it comes to visuals and sound effects. The original, very innovative special effects serve the film well, as do Miguel A. Sola and Eduard Fernandez, the actors playing the leading roles and forming an unforgettable and contrasting duo.
