The Yakuza community in Shinjuku is in a commotion after the disappearance of Anja, one of their most powerful leaders, in mysterious circumstances. As soon as they discover that lchi, a killer whose methods are the sign of a special taste for cruelty and violence, has murdered him, Kukihara, Anjo's right hand, launches a manhunt. Kukihara's craving for revenge is all the more intense because Anjo was the only person who satisfied his masochistic fantasies, and because he longs for more, he is ready to start a generalized gang war. Kukihara will get more than his share, thanks to lchi's savagery. "lchi the Killer" was adapted from manga comics by cult cartoonist Yamamoto, and like every movie directed by Miike, it is meant to be quite an experience for the audience - it seems like he particularly enjoys playing with our nerves. "lchi the Killer" gave Miike Takashi the opportunity to bring an interesting cast together: Asano Tadanobu ("Gemini", "Tabou"), a renowned Japanese movie star also to be seen in "Electric Dragon" this year, performs with two cult directors, Sabu ("Dangan Runner") and Tsukamoto, winner of the NIFFF 2000 for "Gemini".
