In Hong Kong, a sparrow is a pickpocket whose dexterity allows him to « fly away » once he has picked a pocket. Kei and his three acolytes are experts in this art. When he’s not working, Kei walks up and down the streets of Hong Kong, taking pictures. This is how he meets beautiful Chun Li, with whom he immediately falls in love. One by one, his three buddies also get to know Chun Li, with the same result. It is no accident that these encounters take place: the young woman needs the talents of Kei and his gang to carry out a plan she has devised. With Sparrow, Johnnie To (The Mission, Breaking News, Election 1 and 2) gives us a high class detective comedy, his area of expertise.
