After a car accident kills their parents, Oscar and his sister Linda promise never to abandon each other. And yet, the two are separated and placed into different foster care systems. Once of legal age, Oscar lives in Tokyo as a drug dealer while Linda works as a stripper. When a drug transaction goes awry and Oscar gets killed by the police, his spirit remains loyal to his promise and refuses to leave the living world, instead wandering the city to watch over his sister. His visions, where past, present, and future mix together in a hallucinatory maelstrom, become ever more chaotic... Billed as a psychedelic melodrama by its director, Enter the Void challenges viewers’ perceptions. While conceptual in form, the film nevertheless develops in-depth themes, proposing an intelligent look at drug culture, as well as forays into Tibetan spirituality inspired by the Book of the Dead. With a good dose of eroticism to top it all off, Enter the Void will definitely make you stay glued to your seats!
