Srinivas is a talented young architect. He falls in love with his colleague Tara and everything seems rosy. Unfortunately, a serious car accident brings a brutal end to all perspective. His face is terribly scarred and his life is turned upside down. His girlfriend leaves him and he loses his confidence and his good humour, compromising his career and alienating himself from his friends. One evening, he meets the odd Ragini, a beauty with a spellbinding look in her eyes who accepts him despite his sinister appearance. Convinced that he has rediscovered his lost happiness, Srinivas marries his Muse. But he begins to have doubts about his wife... Is she really human ? An independent film, Akam takes us on a worrying journey into the human psyche. An adaptation of Malayattoor Ramakrishnan’s novel Yakshi (1967), a reference to the female demons who seduce men in order to drink their blood, the film manages to cast doubt in the viewer’s mind : are the main character’s fears justified or is he just paranoid ?
