Once regarded as one of the best, renowned Danish painter Lars finds himself suffering from a lack of inspiration. To help stir up his creative juices, his manager decides to send him to a remote Canadian backwater to teach at an art school. In an attempt to impress his attractive colleague Lesley, Lars agrees to personally take care of Eddie, a dumb and rather dull-witted student. Eddie moves in with him and the pair become friends, but Lars soon discovers that his housemate is a sleepwalker, and that while he is sleepwalking he engages in some worrying habits... For the artist, Eddie’s nocturnal forays prove to be a welcome – albeit extremely addictive – source of inspiration ! With an excellent cast that includes Thure Lindhardt (previously seen in Into the Wild and Angels & Demons), Eddie: the Sleepwalking Cannibal is an enjoyable comedy full of hair-raising gore. While exploring the themes of friendship and selfishness, the film lingers on an ethical question that is fundamental to the world of art : just how far should you go to achieve your aim ?
