Paolo, a writer lacking inspiration, decides to isolate himself in a provincial home to devote himself entirely to his work. At the local bar, he meets Djuna, a disturbingly beautiful woman. Knowing she can will not be able to stop herself from biting him, she tries to refuse his advances. But nothing works, passion prevails and Djuna must finally reveal her secret. Paolo accepts her vampire nature and wishes to share her condition. The couple seems to be living a perfect love affair, until Djuna’s rebellious sister pays them a surprise visit. Their love may not be to the taste of other vampires... With Kiss of the Damned, Xan Cassavetes revisits the vampire myth whilst opposing classicism and modernism. A true esthete, the director combines the old-fashioned charm of the most beautiful Hammer horror productions with the flashy gore of today. Infused with an erotic melancholy, the film perfectly describes the violent ambivalence of a vampire torn by her impulses.
