87 minutes
Perth, Australia. Within a few hours, a cataclysmic event will eradicate all life on Earth. Making his way through a city now ablaze with fire and blood, James attempts to reach a friend who’s organizing one last orgy. Along the way, he witnesses a horrific scene of barbarism. For a few minutes, he brushes aside his selfishness and saves Rose, a girl separated from her family. This unexpected rescue invests James with a new sense of responsibility and his plans for end of the world change somewhat. Zak Hilditch makes no compromises in this sensitive and critical look at a civilization on the brink of extinction. The director, channelling both Mad Max and Take Shelter, creates a heavy and sweaty atmosphere, used to depict human bestiality at its darkest. Beautiful cinematography and brilliant actors add to this amazing apocalyptic drama that will leave you stunned and thoughtful.
