New Worlds of Fantasy
Who better than John Howe could portray the world of J.R.R. Tolkien in all its complexity and splendour? When Peter Jackson started production on the film adaptation of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, he asked the Canadian illustrator (an adoptive citizen of Neuchâtel) to become his visual designer. Howe has since published several books on the topic.
With the help of Alan Lee, another artist who specializes in this universe, John Howe gives life to Middle Earth, from Rivendell to the Mordor and its many creatures, creating such vivid images that it becomes almost impossible to imagine this world could look any different, which is no small feat…
