Deeply disoriented since his mother died, Evan decides to leave the USA and to settle in Italy. As he is slowly discovering a new appetite for life in a coastal village, he meets Louise, a beautiful and mysterious woman with whom he starts a passionate love affair. But behind her beauty hide shameful secrets that might just compromise Evan’s plans for his European life. The directors of Resolution (NIFFF 2012) are making a comeback to the supernatural genre with the devastating Spring. Playing on as many emotions as it does references, the film’s main asset is actually its intelligent exploration of the character’s psyche. Showing off their skills in terms of writing and directing, the filmmakers make the most of the new technologies at their disposal, as well as the gorgeous Italian scenery. The electrifying performances from the two main actors give the film an emotional depth, even when horror reigns supreme. An undeniable accomplishment !
