Four children are exploring a haunted house when one of them vanishes. When he reappears 25 years later, his friends – who have since forgotten the details of the incident – must contend with Boughatate, a terrifying djinn. Although there are too many Halloween-inspired films to count, the exploration of Arabic mythology has yet to become a cinematic genre in itself. Talal Selhami’s follow-up to Mirages (NIFFF 2011) is a bold tale featuring the Moroccan bogeyman.
