Harper is a broken young woman who’s had to deal with her husband’s death. To overcome this ordeal and try to recharge, she rents a beautiful house in the green Hertfordshire countryside. As she starts finding her footing in this new place, Harper makes a series of troubling encounters. What initially seemed like a feeling of discomfort turns into a waking nightmare fed by the young woman’s darkest memories and fears. Shown at this year’s Directors’ Fortnight of the Cannes Festival, Men is a macabre fable that boldly plays with folk horror tropes. Elevated by an incredible central performance from Jessie Buckly, the film is a sensory, anxiety-inducing experience. Its cinematography and music help create a perfectly gloomy world that will plunge the audience in the horrors of the human mind. Frights guaranteed!
