In the heatwave of summer, a group of kids spend the time playing in the rural Flemish village. The games, harmless at first, soon become more and more dangerous, and tragedy strikes. Thirteen years later, Eva, who is now 26, returns to her home village to face those who hurt her all those years ago. Based on the best-seller of the same name, this oppressive drama switches between two time periods to better highlight the disastrous consequences of childhood cruelty.
