Film

A crack on the seabed caused by an earthquake speeds up climate change and threatens the planet. Meanwhile, Elias and Anita fall in love with each other and start living the perfect romance. But soon, the young scientist’s obsession with the dangerous phenomenon pushes him away from their relationship. Years later, while on a perilous mission to seal the crack shut, Elias experiences what his life could have been had he made different choices. With Eternal, Ulaa Salim delivers a moving romantic drama that harnesses the tropes of the epic eco-thriller.

Born in 1987, Ulaa Salim studied at the National Film School of Denmark after graduating with a bachelor’s in social sciences. He co-founded the Hyaene Film production company with producer Daniel Mühlendorph, thanks to which he directed his debut feature Sons of Denmark, shown as part of the NIFFF 2019 international competition. Moving away from the near-future political thriller, Eternal harkens back to one of his first short films made in 2012.
