Film
Darcy, a young blind woman and curio shopkeeper, claims to be able to communicate with the dead. After her twin sister is murdered in mysterious circumstances, she sets out to find the culprit thanks to her psychic powers and a disturbing wooden dummy from her collection of cursed artefacts. Poltergeists, night terrors, and offhand sarcasm blend together perfectly in this gripping supernatural whodunit…
Cork-based Irish writer/director Damian McCarthy is fascinated by strange things and curiosities. He therefore starts exploring the supernatural as soon as he picks up a camera, and his first horror short films win accolades in various festivals, as well as the recognition of the genre’s experts. Four years after Caveat, his debut feature made with little money but lots of creativity and terrifying poetry, McCarthy is back with Oddity.
