For this new edition of Vendredi de la peur, the NIFFF and the Cinémathèque suisse present THE OTHERS by Alejandro Amenábar (US, 2001).

In 1945, on the island of Jersey, formerly occupied by the Germans, Grace Stewart (Nicole Kidman) lives in an isolated country house with her two young children, who suffer from a severe sensitivity to light. To protect them, she keeps the house in darkness using heavy curtains. One day, Bertha Mills, Edmund Tuttle, and the mute Lydia arrive looking for work. Grace hires them as housekeeper, gardener, and maid, knowing they have worked in the house before. From then on, strange presences begin to appear…
